Ms. Jessie Mae Johnson affectionately known as “Jackie” was born to the union of Henry and Ida Mae Johnson on December 6, 1964 in Ft. Myers, Florida. She was the oldest of their 5 children and the second oldest of her dad’s 6 children.
She exchanged mortality for immortality on October 26, 2017. She accepted Christ at an early age at Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Elder Nelson Raines. She remained a faithful member until her death.
Jackie was educated in the Lee County School System. She graduated from North Ft. Myers High in 1982 and attended Lee Vo-Tech. She received her A.A. Degree from Edison
Community College and at the time of her death was pursuing her Bachelor’s Degree at Florida Southwestern State College. She was excited about furthering her education and made sure we knew about every class, test, and assignment she excelled in.
Jessie has worked in some capacity with the State of Florida since shortly after graduating high school. Most recently she worked for the Department of Corrections and was so proud and excited about her promotion to Supervisor. She so looked forward to that new journey and what it would teach her and what she had to offer. In total she worked for the State of Florida for nearly 30 years and now “sports” her 30-year pin.
Jackie was a compassionate caring, and loving woman. She loved the Lord with all her heart. She also loved football and knew more about the game than even her brothers.
Left to cherish her precious memories are her father, Henry Johnson, Jr. and stepmother, Jeanette Johnson; two sisters, Gladys Mark (Milton) of Ft. Myers, Fl., Dr. Paulette Johnson of Orlando, Fl.; three brothers, Tyrone Johnson (Annie) of Tampa, Fl., Eric Johnson (Caretta) of Ft. Myers, Fl. and Michael Johnson (Kristie) of Indianapolis, IN; three step siblings, Stephanie Lawrence (Derrick) of Kathleen, Ga., Shemika Howard of St. Petersburg, Fl., and Tabish Bellot of Ft. Myers, Fl.; uncles, James Major (Mary) of Colonie, NY, Jimmie Lee Major of Albany, NY, Lonnie Johnson (Romeo) of Ft. Myers, Fl.; aunts, Ernestine Harrison (Reddick) of Troy, NY, Gladys Gordon (William) of Columbus, Ga, Minnie Lee Allen of Columbus, Ga., Fannie Evans of Ft. Myers, Fl. and Julia Freeman of Bronx, NY; eight nieces, Erica Johnson, Imoni Johnson, Tierra Johnson, Naskieka Johnson, Julisa Johnson, Erin Johnson, Iesha Garrett, and Andrazia Watson; eight nephews, Tyrone Johnson, Jr., Eric Johnson, Jr., Sean Michael Johnson, Thomas Johnson, Delshon Garrett, Kamari Howard, Androse Watson, and Antrevion Watson; two great nephews, Javien Pastoriza, and Tabish Bellot, Jr. and a host of other relatives and friends.
