Our History

From humble beginnings in Arcadia, Florida, on February 26, 1996 Edward and Priscilla Hickson endeavored to start their own funeral service business. They originally opened doors at 3696 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. The original founders of the first Hickson Funeral Home were Edward’s parents, Eugene and Verlene Hickson in 1960, which was located in Arcadia, Fl. The Arcadia location is the oldest continuously operated funeral home in Desoto County.

In 1998, Hickson Funeral Home (Ft. Myers, Florida), became incorporated and thereby changed the business name to Hickson Funeral Home Inc. In June of 2003, Hickson Funeral Home Inc, was relocated to 2530 highland Avenue and remained there for three years.

Finally after years of leasing, on February 0f 2006, Edward and Priscilla Hickson with the grace of god were able to purchase property from the Dunbar Housing Association which was located at 3308 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Soon after acquisition, remodeling began. Edward, Priscilla and their staff worked day and night to beautify their new funeral home.
On July of 2006, Hickson Funeral Home Inc., officially opened their door at their new location.
