She lived her entire life in Fort Myers, graduating valedictorian of her Dunbar High School Class of 1960 and from Florida A & M University. She received her early Christian training at St. John First Missionary Baptist Church and in her later adult life joined Mt. Olive AME Church where she was a faithful member. Her mother instilled in her a love for Christian music and she continued this passion by teaching piano lessons. Teaching was her vocation and her avocation whether she was in the classroom, in her living room, at the piano, at church or on her front porch.
Her parents preceded her in death. She will always live in the hearts of her beloved daughter, Cliffonny Teal Caldwell; grandsons, Chazmyn Newson and Chaydon Foster; special friend and caretaker, Ray C Truttling and sisters, Carol Johnson Coffie and Carmin Johnson McClary.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Gardens Cemetery, Michigan Ave. Arrangements entrusted to Hickson Funeral Home.
