On March 7, 2015, our beloved James Beauford at the age of 94, left this earth to be with his Lord and Savior. He departed this life at home, following a battle with cancer.
James was born on October 12, 1920 in Elmira, GA. In August of 1942 he served in the Army of the United States (328th Army Air Force Base Unit) for several years. He was a World War II Veteran. He served as the 1st Black Sheriff of Charlotte County. On November 1, 1975 he was united in marriage to his true love Mae Catherine Johnson in Punta Gorda, FL... He worked with the Charlotte County Public Works Department for 20 plus years and retired.
James accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior in 1971 and was fully committed to lead a Christ centered life. He was a dedicated member of First Macedonia Baptist Church and served as a faithful usher. In June of 2011 he was installed as an Honorary Deacon and served faithfully until his death.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Beauford and Adeline Harold; Brother, Willis Beauford, Sr.; Sisters, Viola Rolle and Helen Smith; 3 step-children, Thomas Kelly, Catherine Mobley, and Alexander Kelly; 2 grandsons, Kenny W. Johnson and Ricky J. Platt; Great grandson; Clifton Shaw

Audrey (LaShawn) Johnson of Alexandria, VA, Wallace (Margaret) Kelly of Fayetteville, N.C., James (Luecinda) Monroe of West Palm Beach; Gabriel Wade, of Punta Gorda; One daughter, Charlene Beauford of Tifton, GA; Four step-daughters, Janice Johnson, Mary Bullock, and Patricia (Glenn) Lock, all of Fayetteville, N.C., and Marilyn (Marrion) Johnson of Savannah, GA; Three sisters-in-law, Ellanese Beauford of Atlanta, GA, Georgia Sampson and Celestine Bryant of Fayetteville, N.C.; Two brothers-in-law, George (Mary) Johnson of Utica, MD, and Joe (Mary) Johnson of Fayetteville, N.C.: 2 god-daughters, Linda Platt and Bernice Matthews, 58 grandchildren, 65 great grandchildren, several great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and Pastor Brooks and the First Macedonia M. B. Church family. Close friends, Cleophes (Mr. Shack) Johnson, Deacon Joseph Chestnut and Deacon Herbert Qualls.
