Veronica Mather Speights was born August 24, 1942 in Fort Myers to Theota Samuel Mather and Carleather Pennington. She attended Dunbar School graduating with Class of 61.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Nathaniel Speights; daughter, Reva, six uncles and four aunts.

She leaves to cherish her daughter, Angela (Kenneth) Williams; son, Gregory McKinney all of Fort Myers, Florida, mother, Carleather Pennington; step-sister, Theola Mather; stepchildren, Andrew (Almeeta) Bryant, ShaPowell of Ft. Myers, Florida, Natalie of Tampa, Florida, Nathaniel Jr. of Tampa, Florida, Darrell of Tampa, Florida, Maurice (Annetta) Bryant of Venice, Florida; grandchildren, Gregory, Sheldon, and Cedrice; great-grandchildren, Jazharia, Kynadee Rose, and Aniyah; aunt, Wanda (Allan) Bedward of Lakeland, Florida; uncles, Gus Carmichael of Fayetteville, N.C.; godchildren, Theresa, Clarence B., Genera, Mary, Dorothy, Marie, Patricia, Clarence L., Ronnie, and Marion; best friends, Lillian Mosley, Mildred Nance, Pearl Eady and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
