Edward Lee Mc Carter Sr. was born August 26, 1949 to the late Mr. James and Lillie McCarter in Ft. Myers, Florida. He attended Dunbar High School (Class of 1967). Edward was given Carolyn Thompson to be wed in holy matrimony by the late Richard and Mattie Thompson on December 30, 1972.

Edward worked in the Sanitation Department for the City of Naples for over 20 years; however he retired from the Lee County School Board in 2012, after working 12 years. 

Edward gave his life to Christ in April of 2011, where he became a member of Jesus Christ Outreach Center in Ft. Myers, Florida. He was an avid gardener, fisherman, and he loved doing puzzles of all kinds.

Edward leaves to cherish his memories; a committed and devoted wife of 41 years, Carolyn McCarter; seven children, Roger McCrae (fiance’, Tia Grimes), Katrina (Troy) Veney, Abigail McCarter and Sherond Cody, Kendrick (Katrina) McCrae, Edward (Natalie) McCarter Jr., Sherri (Demond) Hood, Lily McCarter and Zachery Holloway; siblings, Dorothy (Wimberly) Speed, Lorenza (Shirley) McCarter, Rose (Moses) Jackson, Dexter (Michelle) McCarter, Debra (James) Smith, Larry (Exploria) McCarter and Linda McCarter; three sisters-in-law, Florence Thompson, Irene Lamar and Fred Ladson, Verleen (Bruce) Ruff; three brothers-in-law, Elijah McCoy, Johnny McCoy, and Warren Johnson; twenty-two grandchildren, Shekila, Courtney, Shantyria, Courey, Shan’Tasia, Ed’Dricka, Ciara, Cayman, ShanToria, Roger Jr., Kiona, Ja’ir, Ed’Kezia, Ashanti, Carolyn, Adah, Jurni, Clifton Jr., Amari, Ethan, Kaleb, She’ryah, eight aunts, two uncles and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
