Mrs. Lula Jackson was born to the late George Edmond and
Caroline Florence on September 5, 1923 in Pittsview, Alabama.

She moved to Fort Myers in December 1950.

Lula was married to Nathan Powell and Jessie Jackson both
preceded her in death. Her third child, Nathan Power, Jr. Also
preceded her in death. She worked hard to make sure that her
children had proper care; sometimes she worked two jobs. Her
work was primarily devoted to caring for children.

In the 1950s, Lula’s journey lead her to Mr. and Mrs. Connie
Mack, Jr. In the words of some the Mack’s children, ‘they
quickly realized that they had found the warm, caring person
they could trust to help raise their children.  He love created a
very special bond between the Jackson/Powell and Mack/
McGillicuddy families that has lasted for decades and is sure to
continue for many more”

Lula confessed Christ at an early age and began serving the
Lord at Zion Spring Baptist Church in Pittsview, Alabama and
continued at St. Mary Baptist Church in Fort Myers, Florida.
She was an active member of St, Mary until her health failed.

Lula, a devoted mother, a loving grandmother, a caring great-
grand mother, a faithful employee and a dutiful servant of God
passed from this life on March 13, 2010.

She leaves to cherish her memories: two daughters, Caroline
McCollum and Bettye Bolden (Harrison); one son, Elroy Pow-
ell, Sr. (Harriet); grand children, thirty-one, great-grand chil-
dren and eight great-great-grand children; three sisters, Annie
Florence of Seale, Alabama, Beulah Jones of Gary, In and Vir-
ginia Johnson of Columbus, Ga. An  a special niece, Arleatha
Green special family,  the McGillicuddys  devoted friends Alda
Dawson and Stanley Murphy; a very caring cousin, Eddie Ed-
mond (friend Gerri), many nieces, nephews and friends.
