Leroy D. Denson was born March 14, 1931 in Morvin, Geor-
gia to the late Leonard and Mary Denson. He was preceded in
death by his soul mate, Willa Mae McKay and his son, Arthur
James Denson.
Leroy accepted the Lord at an early age. He was a devoted
member and deacon of Good News Fellowship of Christ,
Pastor John Ledbetter.
“D”, as he was affectionately called, departed this life on
March 3, 2010.
Left to cherish his memories and smile are: his loving and
caring sons, Leroy Denson Jr. of Madison, Florida, Roy
“Bernard” Denson (fiancee, Faye Jennings), Melvin McKay of
Ft. Myers, Florida; his loving a caring daughters, Avery Ann
(Arthur) Calhoun of Valdosta, Ga., Debra (Al) Rogers, Alice
McKay, Michelle McKay, Lisa (Keith) White all of Ft. Myers,
Florida; brother, Roosevelt L. Denson of Columbus, Ohio;
sister-in-law, Ann (Leroy) Wilson of Marianna, Florida; God
children, Larry “Flap” Griffen, Rose Hawkins, and a host of
grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins
and friends. Special devoted friends, Estella Griffen, Gloria
White, Rachel Jackson, Pearl Hollaway, Olga Torres, Nancy
Ledbetter of Ft. Myers, Florida. Sarah Kier of Valdosta, Geor-
gia, Grady (Leila) Love, Gene McCutheon, Allen Harris,
Emerson (Margaret) Pinkney, James Davis, and Lorenzo of Ft.
Myers, Florida.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, March 13,
2010 at Jerusalem Baptist Church, 2250 Palm Avenue, Ft.
Myers, Florida. Visitation will take place 6-8 P.M., Friday,
March 12, 2010 at Hickson’s Funeral Home. Funeral arrange-
