Deacon Bennie Lee Davis Sr.

Deacon Davis was born on May 2, 1949 in Douglas, Goergia. His parents were the late Lonnie and Lealer Davis. He was preceded in death by his brother, Billy Davis.

Deacon Davis accepted Jesus Christ at an early age as his personal savior. He was a faithful member of New Hope Church of Christ Written in Heaven where he was ordained as a deacon.

Deacon Davis graduated from Dunbar High School in the class of 1967.

He was united in holy matrimony to Betty J. Dickerson. To this union were born four children, Ladwayna Strong (LeRon) of Lakeland, Fl., Bennie Davis Jr. of Ft. Myers, Fl., Tawana Davis of Ft. Myers, Fl., and Cedric Davis of Tampa, Fl.

He was employed by 3 Fisherman Seafood Restaurant, Wal-Mart, and the Ambassador Riverfront Hotel.

He further leaves to cherish his memories; six grandchildren, Darren, Michael, Cherish, Tahje, Bennie III, and Ny’Kiaria; Goddaughter, Melisa Pierce; Godson, Gary Solomon; two brothers, Bobby Davis of Ft. Myers, and Benjamin Davis (Patricia) of Pembroke Pines, Fl.; two sisters, Betty Rutledge of Miami, Fl., Bernice Davis of Jacksonville, Fl., a host of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, his church family and friends.

Funeral services for Bennie Lee Davis Sr., will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 26, 2011 at the Gulf Coast Church of Christ, 9950 Ben C Pratt / Six Mile Cypress Parkway.  Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m., Friday, February 25, 2011 at Hickson’s Funeral Home.
