Henry Whitney was born May 17, 1930 in Clarksdale, Mississippi the son of Walter and Susie Mix Whitney. He was the fifth of eleven children; six boys and five girls, born to this union. 

His parents, five brothers, Theodore Whitney, Tim Whitney, James Whitney, Walter Whitney Jr,  Preston Whitney and four sisters, Rosie Fennell, Pearl Whitney and Earlene Whitney, Ruby Whitney preceded him in death.

He was united in holy matrimony to Willean Whitney on October 16, 1965 in Colbert, Michigan.  They soon relocated to Alva, Florida, and later moved to Ft. Myers, Florida in 1978.

On January 5, 2018 at 9:40 a.m., God dispatched his angels to deliver Henry his wings at the age of 87 years old. He is now resting in a place that has no hurt, harm or pain and is in a place of everlasting peace and joy.

He leaves to cherish precious memories; his wife, Willean Whitney; three daughters, Frances Whitney, Cleo White and Lashawnda Brown; one son, Henry Whitney Jr.; two sons-in-law, Jason Brown and Larry White; two goddaughters, Madeline Hill and Dea Garrett, nine grandchildren, Latravia Whitney, Henry Whitney III, Keona Whitney, Chasidy Henderson, Ira Henderson, Myran Henderson, Jason Brown Jr,  Mackenzie White, Jazzette Brown; one great-grand, Davianna Paulk; his sister, Erma Whitney and a host of other relatives and friends.
