On Wednesday, June 20th, 2012 at 8:45a The angels of Lord came down and called, Fannie Jeannette Nunn, home. She was born on December 8th ,1951 to the Union of Agripper James and Minnie Lee James of Silver Springs, FL. She met her Husband Isaac H. Nunn on March 15th, 1975.
Although she was born in Silver Springs, FL yet was raised in Ocala, FL. As a young girl she was a member of the Welcome Stranger Baptist Church, where she accepted the Lord at an early age. She attended Howard High School where she was a member of the softball team and1967 Championship girls basketball team. She was active with her class and a member of the Yearbook committee. Jeannette graduated in 1969 and left Ocala to attend Malcolm X College in Chicago, IL. In 1971, she transferred to Goshen College in Goshen, IN where she majored in biology and received a BA degree in 1974. In March of 1975, after being married to Isaac H. Nunn, they moved to Gainesville, FL. Both she and her husband started graduate school at the same time, she entered the Graduate Program of Health Sciences whereupon she received a Dual Masters Degree. One in Health Sciences and the other in Rehabilitative Counseling in 1976 with Honors recognition.
She began her professional career in Tallahassee, FL where she became a Mental Health Therapist for the State of Florida in 1977. They resided in Tallahassee until 1981 when they moved to Ft. Lauderdale, FL where she became a Mental Health Counselor in Broward Co. She and her husband resided in Ft. Lauderdale until 1986, when they moved to Ft. Myers, FL. They joined and became members of St. John Missionary Bapist Church in 1987. While in Ft. Myers she was inducted into AKA Sorority and became a life long member. During this time she became employed by the Ruth Cooper Center and Crawford & Company. She also worked at the Arcadia Correctional facility for several years in the Jerry Rice program. She worked as a dedicated Mental Health Professional for 35 years.
Jeannette was all about her family. Every holiday was special and she added her special touch to everything that she came across in life. She was a beautiful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be remembered for all that she did and the imprint that she left in everyones life and heart. Nothing meant more to her than having her family around on holidays and seeing them eat as she enjoyed their company. Her smile lit up a room and was contagious. She will be greatly missed.
She leaves to cherish her memories a Loving Husband, Isaac H. Nunn, two sons, Courtney Nunn (Amy), Jonathan Nunn (Jessica), and one Daughter, Iris De Hoyos, all from Cape Coral,, three brothers, Alonzo James of New York, Melvin James (Renee), and Bobby James (Veronica) of Ocala , eight grand children, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins. Along with dedicated and cherished friends.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Henry James, Agripper James Jr, Jesse James and four sisters, Geraldine James McCray , Mary Allen James, Rosemary James, and Mildred Maxine James Maise.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at St. John First Missionary Baptist Church, 2044 Brown Street, Ft. Myers, Fl. Interment will folow in Ft. Myers Cemetery. Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at St John First Missionary Baptist Church.
