Waldemar Koschel

December 19, 2011

"Waldemar Koschel, 87, passed away peacefully on Monday at his home with his loving family by his side.  He was born in Neufredental Kreis Odessa. Ukraine and immigrated to Syracuse in 1955 from Braunschweig, Germany.  He was proud to call America his home and cherished the freedom it stood for. He was a bricklayer in Germany before coming to Syracuse where he worked for Tip Top Bakery 13 years and later retiring from Young & Franklin Tool Works after 22 years of service. He was a member of Pitcher Hill Church, German War Veterans and a life member of the German American Society of CNY.  He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and loved holding his very young great grandchildren.  A hard worker, he was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Anna (Meyer) Koschel; his daughters, Renate (Roy) Brunner and Linda (Russ) Gower of LaFayette; his grandchildren, Jennifer (Nate) Fasulo, Erika and Jacob Brunner, Sarah and Ben Gower and his great grandchildren Juliana and Joshua Fasulo.  Also surviving are his sister, Emilie Hartmann of  Germany and his brother Willie Koschel of Russia, who he cared for very much.

Services 11:00am Thursday at Gang Memorial Chapel 104 Fordham Rd. at Teall Ave. Burial in Onondaga Valley Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.

The family wishes to extend a very special thank you to EVERYONE at P.A.C.E. who took such wonderful care of Waldemar's needs.

Contributions may be made to the Diabetes Association.
