Dear Mrs. Benson - I was in the library reading some old papers when I happened to see Mr. Benson's death, and I truly am sorry to learn of the loss of this wonderful person and animal lover. You may not remember a collie-mix that you had in your home,(in 1976!!), but my mother and I, accompanied by Fred Becker, a Boston police officer, visited your home for an "interview," and we were delighted to have "Sandy" join our family. He gave us 14 wonderful years of unconditional love, and we have always been grateful to Mr. Benson that we were so lucky. My mother had to be placed in a nursing home, and if ever there was a dog destined to be a "therapy dog" it was Sandy. He brought joy to countless patients. It was a heartbreak to have to put him to sleep in 1990. I will always remember your husband with fondness, and I send sincere sympathy to you and your family.
