Aunt Idella was a strong and welcoming person. She stood her ground on issues, yet listened and shared her thoughts with a caring and bright mind. I loved being in your home as it was bustling with adventure, either the antics of the four kids or the sudden departure from the dinner table when the "squawk box" created the need to depart and chase the fire! Life for Aunt Idella was not boring. Even in the later years, with declining health and sight, she created a double edge sword: be independent and not rely on others and, rely on those who loved and wanted her life to be easier. The torched is passed: the Sudhalter/Shaw values of family and friends will continue, just differently.
