My sympathies to Professor McMahon's family on your loss. I greatly admired Professor McMahon as a wonderful teacher who continually personalized the learnng process at Suffolk. In addition to being a learned teacher, he was a remarkable and approachable person. He will always be a memorable part of my legal education at Suffolk.

Dear Sharon and family members,
I received word of your father's death and I want to send you my sympathy. My sincere condolence on the passing of a great Captain. I have only fond memories of our time working together at the Naval Legal Service Office in Newport. Thanks for your guidance and leadership. Fair winds and following seas.

My sympathy and prayers are with you today. Tom was my teacher when I took his class on intellectual property in law school. Later, he was my shipmate when I served with him in the JAG Corps. We had a common connection with Xavier H.S. He was a man who loved life, a good story, and a good laugh. He also loved his family, his country, and his God. Farewell, Tom -- following seas will see you to a peaceful berth on the lee shore. Jim Murphy

After he retired from Suffolk Law School, Tom would stop by our offices occasionally, always with a hearty "hello Tim," always with a cheerful thought about the day, always with his rosy red cheeks and cherubic smile. I will miss him.

Every time I see the Walpole train station I think of Tom and Alcida. It was the best coffee in town because of the smiles I got from the other side of the counter. What a wonderful team you both made. Not to mention your helpers:) Now whenever I see the train station I will know that there is an angel making a great cup of coffee with a huge smile in heaven. We will miss you Tom. Deb and Joe Burgess, Walpole, MA

I am deeply saddened to learn of Captain Tom's passing. He was a very good man, very easy to like and most deserving of my respect. I considered him a good friend during my times at Naval Legal Service Office, Newport. I very much appreciated all that he did for years to provide legal support and assistance to the active duty sailors and marines in the New England area. We who served on active duty at offices in Newport, New London and Brunswick were only able to accomplish our mission successfully because of the dedication, competence and professionalism of men like Tom. He was always a perfect gentleman and very nice to me.
Heaven exists for good men like Tom McMahon. I wish him fair winds and following seas and my sinere condolences to his family. Pete Hewett

Our sincere condolences to Alcida and Tom's entire family. I too enjoyed serving w/ Tom in the Navy Reserve JAGCorps for many years. I remember first meeting Tom when he came in to just be friendly to the new District legal officer@ COMONE @ the old Fargo Bldg in Boston. We had Holy Cross in common and I knew when he left w/ his cheerful smile I had made a friend for life. Tom was the most principled officer I served w/ and also by far the most gentle and forgiving--for most of his career he gladly drilled w/out pay in the VTU and he shared his cosiderable intellectual knowlege w/ all that he encountered w/ amazing modesty. He loved his country and his family and did right by both. Mike and Diane Donahue

I was a law student of Professor McMahon''s who graduated in 1993. Just yesterday, I found a letter that Professor McMahon wrote to me in the fall of 1993, telling me about his vacation with his family in Tahiti and New Zealand, and how much he enjoyed it. It''s been almost 20 years since I''ve graduated, and I don''t recall much from my years at Suffolk Law. What I do recall, is Professor McMahon. He taught me many things, and one in particular, changed my life. Professor McMahon told me one day, "Don''t study long; study smart." I never forgot that, and I''ve repeated it to others many times. I went on to become a police officer, and even got a graduate degree from Harvard. My heartfelt condolences for your loss, and I''m sorry that I missed the opportunity to tell Professor McMahon what he meant to me. He was a special man. Gizmo and Schnitzel are being well cared for. God Bless.
