I was a piano preparatory student at the New England Conservatory of Music at the same time Richard was studying there. We were in Florence Hartnett's piano ensemble class, and Richard was my partner in various duo-piano pieces. His talent was astounding, with superb musicianship and amazing technique. I was an intermediate student, but Richard's accompaniment made me sound great as we played together. Actually, his two piano piece "Scaramouche" was so advanced, only the teacher could keep up with him. He was quiet and reserved, a real gentleman. I never forgot him.
