Elizabeth (Betty) Sherman 1913 – 2016 Sandwich, MA
Elizabeth-Betty (Burns) Sherman, 103, passed away on October 5, 2016 at Cape Heritage Rehabilitation & Health Care Center, Sandwich, MA. Betty was born in Cambridge, MA on May 3, 1913 to Johannah and Michael Burns.
Betty was a devoted mother to her children and their spouses; Ann (Stan) Barnes of Marstons Mills; Alvin of Sandwich; Mary (Roger) Dickinson of Bedford, NH; Jean (Ken) Kriedberg of North Chelmsford and Elaine (Ron) Davis of Sandwich. She cherished her grandchildren, Christopher Barnes, Susan McCullough, Roger Dickinson, Jr., Alyson Barnes, Ronald Davis, Jr., and Elizabeth Davis, and great grandchildren Caroline, Lindsay and Connor Barnes; Johannah Johnston and Alexandra Bresse.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Alvin Sherman, her brothers John and James Burns, sister, Anna Miles and most recently, her dear niece, Julie Ells. Betty spent her early years in Cambridge before moving to Arlington. She married Al and they moved to Brookline. Betty and Al later moved to Arlington where they raised their five children. Upon Al’s retirement, they moved to Sandwich and spent winters in Bradenton, FL.
Funeral services will be held at Corpus Christi Church in Sandwich on October 11, 2016. Her Mass of Christian Burial is at 11:00 AM, followed by graveside services at the Sandwich Town Cemetery. Visiting hours have been omitted.
