Andrew Earl Boyd, 87, passed away peacefully at home in the presence of his loving family on Saturday, March 8th 2014. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Nell, of 64 years.  He is survived by his three children, Andrew Boyd Jr. and daughter-in-law Dianne Zenis; Christopher Boyd and his wife Jody; and Andrea Boyd Montagno; and his grandchildren Alexander and Graham Boyd and Elara, Emily and John Montagno.

Earl was born in St. Petersburg, Florida on July 13, 1926. He grew up in Atlanta, Georgia where he married Nell Bradley Ellington in the Emory University Chapel in 1948 following his return from his service in the Navy in WW2. After his return from the Korean War, he and Nell moved to Wilmington, Delaware, Chester, Pennsylvania and finally to Walpole, Massachusetts in 1958, where he lived the rest of his life.

Earl served as a radioman in the Navy in WW2 and the Korean War and then returned to school at Emory University followed by an MBA at Harvard Business School. He spent the majority of his working life at Hilsinger and Evans Corporation in Plainville Ma, where her retired in 1996 as the vice president of Marketing and Sales.

Earl was a quintessential tourist and traveled to 33 countries where he was able to enjoy taking photographs of his adventures and sharing all the memories with his family. He was also an avid tennis player and in his retirement he took up biking and golf with his close friends. His greatest joy came from being with his wife, children and 5 grandchildren.

A service of celebration of Earl’s life will be held Saturday, March 22nd, at 11 AM at the United Church of Walpole. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Walpole VNA or the VNA network and Hospice in Needham.
