Dr. Carol Ann Paul of Walpole, Massachusetts died peacefully on May 14 from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) surrounded by her family; Robert, her husband of more than 56 years, and her children, Christine, Dana, Stephanie and Robert.
Carol was born December 17, 1936 to Mary Madeline and Joseph William Bjork at Brockton hospital.  Mr. Bjork was president of the Whitman Savings Bank.  Carol grew up in Whitman, Massachusetts and graduated from Whitman High school in 1954.  She received a State Scholarship to the University of Massachusetts and graduated in 1958 with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Biology.  
Carol married Robert Dana Paul in 1957 and after graduation from college they moved to Groton, Connecticut where they lived for 7 years and their 3 oldest children, Christine, Dana and Stephanie were born.  In 1965, the family moved to Attleboro, Massachusetts, where Carol taught Biology at Attleboro High school and Robert became the Director of Music for the Seekonk School System.  In 1968, she received a Master of Arts in teaching from Rhode Island College and was subsequently offered a National Science Foundation full scholarship to Brown University where she received a Master of Arts in Teaching in 1970.  While studying at Brown, Carol was encouraged by her teachers to leave public education and pursue a career in higher education, which she did.
In 1969, Carol accepted a position as Assistant Professor of Biology at North Shore Community College in Beverly, Massachusetts, and Robert served as the Assistant Superintendent in Melrose.  Their fourth child, Robert Rea was born in Beverly in 1970.  Carol took her first administrative position as Assistant Dean of Faculty in 1974 at North Shore Community College while her husband Robert became the superintendent of Schools in Amesbury in 1972.  In 1978, Carol received an Ed.D. in Education Administration from Boston University.
In 1977, the family moved to Cranford, New Jersey, where Robert became the Superintendent of Schools and Carol assumed the position of Director of Planning at the Department of Higher Education of New Jersey where she wrote the 1980 Master Plan for Higher Education.  
Carol became the Associate Vice President of Fairleigh Dickinson University based in Rutherford, New Jersey, in 1980 where she worked until 1986.  In 1986, she accepted a position at Suffolk Community College in Long Island, New York, as Vice President of Academic Affairs.  Suffolk County College was one of the 10 largest community colleges in the country which prompted Carol to be chosen for Who’s Who’s of American Women and Who’s Who’s of Americans in 1990.
In 1992, Robert retired as Superintendent of Cranford Public Schools.  In 1994, Carol returned to teaching Biology full time at Suffolk County College and retired in 1998.  From 1992–2002 Carol and Robert lived between Middle Island, Long Island, and South Yarmouth, Massachusetts, where they owned a home.  In 2002, Carol and Robert moved full time to Cape Cod where they lived for 10 ½ years and Carol taught Biology part time at Cape Cod Community College.  In 2007, Carol and Robert moved to Walpole, Massachusetts to be near her oldest daughter Christine and her family where Carol continued to live until her passing.
Carol is survived by her husband, Dr. Robert Dana Paul, daughter Christine Paul Tetreault and Raymond Louis Tetreault, son Dana Joseph Paul, daughter Stephanie Paul Lorge and Timothy Sean Lorge, son Robert Rea and Jennifer Ann Paul, sister Laurel Irene Bencivenga, niece Laurie Lee St. Pierre and Jeffrey Brown, and 9 grandchildren, Mary Caitlin Tetreault, Christopher Raymond Tetreault, Rachel Stephanie Tetreault, Carol Irene Paul, Antonio Robert Paul, Kathryn Elizabeth Lorge, Abigail Phillips Paul, Benjamin Dana Paul and William Daniel Paul.  
Although Carol’s career was a critical part of her life, her pride and joy always was and always will be, her loving and devoted family.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday morning at 9 at St. Mary's
Church, East Walpole, MA.  Relatives and friends invited.  Interment will be private.

Dear Family Paul:
On the behalf of the Sisters of Saint Thomas of Villanova, the NDCH Staff and all the Residents at NDCH, we would like to express our deepest sympathy and prayers.
We will have a remembrance mass celebrated for your beloved wife and mother in the next week or so. In faith we know that Mrs. Carol Ann Bjork Paul is with her Creator, her Lord and Savior.
Now as a special angel "Carol Ann" is looking over each one of you.
May God be with you in you in your time of sorrow and grieve. Know that are thoughts and prayers accompany the whole family.
