Margaret Elaine Winebarger Tittle, 58, of Tittle Trail, died on Saturday, December 19, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Born in Caldwell County on August 4, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Bunum Lee and Pearl Ellen Cardwell Winebarger. She worked at Ingersol Rand and was of the Pentecostal faith. She is survived by her husband, Charles William Tittle of the home, a stepson, Joe Wayne Tittle of Bristol, TN; a stepdaughter, Charlene Tittle Crotts, of Advance; 2 sisters, Linda (Roy) Bryant and Gale (Larry) Rudisill; 2 brothers, Bynum (Wanda) Winebarger and Carroll Winebarger; one grandchild, Eathan Harding Groce; 3 step grandchildren, Tamara Cheri (Arthur) Isard, Dreama Tittle Rominger and Joseph Adam Crotts; and 5 step great grandchildren, Dallas Tyler Shoffner, Tristan Taylor Rominger, Dylan Reid Shoffner, Zackery Kalab Rominger and Landon Hunter Rominger. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sirena Gayle Hicks. The service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Tittle was held on Tuesday, December 22, at 8:30 p.m. in the Davie Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Jerry Lynde and Rev. Tony Goins officiating. Born in Rowan County on September 8, 1954, he was the son of the later Booker T. and Magdalene Wilson Cody. He worked for Clover Dairy and was of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Cody; 2 sons, Lee Cody and Booker Cody, Jr., both of Yadkinville; a daughter, Tanya Carroll of Staten Island, NY; 4 brothers, John Cody of Wingate, Samuel Cody of Clemmons, Edward Cody of Washington, DC and Floyd Cody of Shelby; 4 sisters, Deanna Cody, Brida L. She was retired as a French teacher at Lexington High School and was a member of the Mocksville Seventh-Day Adventist Church. She is survived by a nephew, Dr. Francis Slate and wife, Daphne, of Mocksville and a niece Glenda Brenner and husband, Michael, of Washington, DC, several cousins and great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters. Lilly Mae Bolin Lilly Mae Bolin, 59, of Essic Road, Mocksville, a wonderful wife, mom, sister, aunt, godmother, and friend, died on Thursday, December 10, 2009, at WFU Baptist Medical Center. Born in Herndon, WV, on October 16, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Rufus and Becky Frances Byrd Tolbert. She was the owner of B & B Video and was of the Baptist faith. She was the loving wife of Roy Bolin of Mocksville, whom she married on March 28, 1970; loving mother to Natalie (Keith) Cook of Myrtle Beach, SC; Christopher James (Sarah) Bolin of Advance and David Brandon (Kayla) Bolin of Mocksville. She was a loving sister to Shirley (Robert) Finger of Harvard, IL and Ruth Bolin of Marengo, IL. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Loffredo and by 5 infant brothers. The service to celebrate her life was held on Wednesday, December 16, at 12:00 p.m. in the Davie Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Bobby Russell officiating. Born in Davie County on December 8, 1969, he was the son of Dorothy Nadine Tallent Spillman of Mocksville and the late William C. Morgan. He worked in construction and was of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his wife, Mellissa Gay Morgan; 2 sons, William Gray Morgan of Mocksville and Richard Charles Morgan of Tobaccoville; a daughter, Della May Cranford of Mocksville, a sister, Sondra Renay Morgan of Mocksville and 2 nieces, Cassondra Morgan and Hailey Chunn. Fultz, 82, of Harmony, passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2009. She was born on January 28, 1927, in Winston-Salem. She was retired from R. J. Reynolds and was a member of New Union U. M. Church. Ralph C Galloway, 92, of Nancy Easter Loop, died on Tuesday, December 8, 2009, at Brian Center of Statesville. Born in Toronto, Ohio, on October 12, 1917, he was the son of the late Earl and Bertha Lambright Galloway. He was retired from Ohio Edison Electric Company and was of the Mormon faith.
Mr. Galloway is survived by his wife of 72 years, Opal May Varian Galloway; a son, Ralph A. (Ruth) Galloway of East Springfield, Ohio; a daughter, Shirley Darios, of Mocksville; 6 grandchildren, Bob, Lori and Bill of Florida, Pamela and Hollie of North Carolina and Gary of California; 11 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. She was retired from Burlington Mills in Cooleemee and was a member of Harvest Baptist Fellowship. Her husband, Hoyle W. Combs, preceded her in death on March 12, 2000. Mrs. Combs is survived by 5 daughters, Janice (Charles) McAbee, Joann Burton and Jill (Richie) Robertson, all of Mocksville, Amie (Jim) Janeski of Kannapolis and Sandra (Nathan) Barfield of Clemmons; a brother, Cletus (Mildred) Miller of Mocksville; 2 sisters, Edna Angel and Texola (Jay) Tucker, all of Mocksville; 10 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Born in Forsyth County on June 9, 1924, he was the son of the late Charlie Earnest and Eva T. Wagoner Cline. He was retired from Davie Auto Parts and was of the Baptist faith. On August 24, 1979, he married Regina Olivia Young Cline, who survives of the home. In addition to his wife, Mr. Cline is survived by 3 sons, Robert (Gail) Cline of Yadkinville, Roger Dean (Joyce) Cline of Traphill, NC and Loyd Alvis (Fran) Cline of Walnut Cove; a step-daughter, Annette Young of the home; a brother Hoyt Cline of Yadkinville; 3 sisters, Lois Witt of Kernersville, Gladys Adams of Farmington, and Ruby Heidt of Salisbury; 8 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Born in Gadsden, Alabama, on August 5, 1934, he was the son of the late Paul Moon and Ethel Lancaster Moon Driskell. Mr. Moon was married to Inez Bolin Moon for 52 years. He was of the Baptist faith and retired from Fiber Industries after 32 years. Paul Allen Moore Paul Allen Moore, 84, of Pepperstone Drive, died on Tuesday, August 11, 2009, at his home. Born in Belmont, MS, on February 24, 1925, he was the son of the late James William and Zula Moore. Mr. Moore retired from the US Army in 1964 as a 1st Sgt. after serving our country for 23 years. He served in WW II in the 36th Texas Division. He fought in Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno, Southern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. He was highly decorated receiving a Purple Heart with one OLC, a Bronze Star and a Bronze Indian Arrowhead. He served in Japan during its occupation. His last tour of duty was Camp Machinato, Okinawa. Mr. Moore was an active member of Green Meadows Baptist Church and was an ordained deacon. His wife of 48 years, Dorothy Mae Dehart Moore, preceded him in death on March 24, 2009. Alma Mae Combs Shoaf, 89 of Duke Street, Cooleemee, died on Saturday, April 18, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice. Born in Wilkes County on June 16, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Marshall Columbus and Laura Rinda McCrary Combs. She was retired from Cone Mills in 1981, where she was a re-inspector. Mrs. Shoaf was a member of First Baptist Church of Cooleemee. She was a Sunday school teacher and a member of the choir. She also was a member of the Senior Citizens. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Robert Shoaf, who she married on April 23, 1937. Mrs. Shoaf is survived by three daughters, Geraldine (Paul) Leatherman of Woodleaf, Glenda (Robert) Barnhardt and Kathy Corriher, both of Mocksville, eight grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 13 great great children, numerous nieces & nephews. Moore, 88, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 24, at Autumn Care Of Mocksville after several months of declining health. Mrs. Moore was born in Swain County, NC on January 1, 1921. She was a daughter of the late Andrew Jackson and Nola Slagle DeHart. She was a member of Green Meadows Baptist Church and had read her Bible through more than twenty times. Mrs. Moore was author of a book, Dorothy Moore’s Pattern Drafting and Dressmaking, which taught skills she had learned while living in Okinawa with her husband, who retired from the Army. While living thirty-two years at Kitty Hawk, NC, she was active in church, Bible studies and was an avid gardener. Mrs. Moore is survived by her husband of forty-eight years, Paul A. Moore of the home; two daughters, Linda (James T.) Pullen of Falls Church, VA, Faye (Allen James) Hutchins of Mocksville, and a stepson, Timothy P. Moore of Cookeville, TN. VIRGINIA BURNER SHAW Clara Virginia Burner Shaw of Berea, Ohio, died on March 6, 2009, in her 100th year. She was born in Belington, WV, on May 18, 1909, the daughter of the late William Henry “Bunk” and Daisy Dean Parker Burner Her husband William Lemuel “Bill” Shaw whom she married in March, 1928, preceded her in death in September, 1981. He had been a coal mine Superintendent in Galloway, Century, Monterville, and Madison, West Virginia. Surviving are three daughters, Patricia Jo Hinkle with whom she made her home; Virginia Lee Sinclair, Wheeling; Margaret Edith Cole O’Connor, Cincinnati, Ohio; daughter-in-law Gay Fucci Shaw, West Long Branch, NJ; twelve grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Margaret Daugherty, Medina, OH. She was also preceded in death by son, Russell L. Shaw; sister Mary Mitchell; two brothers, William “Bud” Burner, and Charles F. Burner; and two sons-in-law Robert “Bob” Cole and David O’Connor. Mrs. Shaw attended Mary’s Chapel Church for many years where she taught Sunday School and played the piano. She attended Central UM Church in Buckhannon; belonged to the WSCS, College Club, St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary, and the Philippi Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. Friends and family were received from 12 to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 14, in Mary’s Chapel Church, at Corder’s Crossing, Rt. 3, Philippi. Following the 2 p.m. .funeral service, she was laid to rest near many family members and next to her husband in the Mary’s Chapel Cemetery. Charles Edward “Chuck” Dodson, Jr., 42, of Needmore Road, died on Friday, February 6, at his home. Adam Mock Darr, 87, of Crews Lake Road, Lexington, died on Wednesday, February 4, 2009, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Born in Davidson County on March 13, 1921, he was the son of the late William Adam and Jesse Ila Potts Darr. Mr. Darr served in the Army Air Force during World War II, was retired from the furniture industry, and attended Fork Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Bessie Oliver Darr, of the home; his sons, Richard Darr, Stephen Darr and John Oliver, all of Lexington; daughters Susan Bristow and Carolyn (Leon) Martin of Winston-Salem; a daughter-in-law, Millie Oliver of Lexington; two brothers, Lester (Ann) Darr of Lexington and Carey (Peggy) Darr of Welcome; a sister, Helen Leonard of Lexington; grandchildren Vikki B. (Brad) Martin of Cary, Julie Martin of Zebulon, Sherri Martin of Winston-Salem, Chris Oliver, Amanda Oliver and Jamie Theophandes, all of Lexington; great grandchildren Tyson Martin, Rachel Oliver, Christian Oliver and Maryann Wall and numerous nieces and nephews. Ada Elizabeth Ward Boger, 89, of Pinebrook School Road, died on Sunday, February 1, at her home. Born in Davie County on August 19, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Charles Franklin and Josie Elizabeth Williams Ward. She was a homemaker and was a member of Smith Grove United Methodist Church. Her husband, Marshall Howard Boger, preceded her in death on December 4, 2001. Mrs. Boger is survived by a daughter-in-law, Pam Boger of Mocksville; a sister, Louise McClamrock of Mocksville; 2 grandchildren, Angela (Todd) Worley and John (Whitney) Boger; and 4 great grandchildren, Kayla Dalton, Colton Dalton, Blake Worley and Mason Boger. Ollie Virgil Reavis, 81, of Ollie Harkey Road, died on Thursday, January 15, 2009, at his home. Born in Davie County on April 7, 1927, he was the son of the late Andrew W. Reavis, Sr. and Allie Lee Wilkins Reavis. He was retired from Western Electric and was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. He served in the U. S. Army. Mr. Reavis is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Andrew W. Reavis, Jr. and his wife, Mary Abigail Reavis of Mocksville and a sister and brother-in-law, Mary Jane Call and husband, Doug Call of Myrtle Beach, SC. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Roland Reavis and a sister, Dorothy Naylor. The service to celebrate the life of Mr. Reavis was held on Sunday, January 18, at 3:00 p.m. at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Marvin Blackburn officiating. Albert Lee “Whitey” Jones, 61, of Estates Drive in Lexington, died on Tuesday, January 12, at Wake Forest University Medical Center. Born in Davie County on July 9, 1947, he was the son of the late Sherrill Asa and Dinah Mae Jones Jones. He was a carpenter and was of the Baptist faith. He also served in the U. S. Joe Eustace “Duke” Daniels, 92, died on Monday, January 12, following a lengthy illness. Mr. Daniels, who was a long time resident of Pine Ridge Road in Cooleemee, had been a carpenter, a house mover, and retired as maintenance supervisor for Davie County Schools. Mr. Daniels was a man of many interests including fishing, especially at the coast, NASCAR racing, tinkering with hit-and-miss engines, gardening, and collecting antique bottles. Mr. Daniels was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Georgia P. Daniels; his wife of more than fifty years, Lexie Veach Daniels; and all his brothers and sisters except Charles Lindy Daniels of Colorado. Mr. Daniels is survived by two sons, Don L. Daniels of Salisbury and Michael D. Daniels of Statesville, and a daughter, Linda D. Soderquist, of Greensboro. He is also survived by grandchildren Julie Fuller, Vicki Norman, Page Eudy, Wende Collins, Dave Soderquist; and great grandchildren Justin Wells, Jordan Fuller, Daniel and Reid Norman, Kirsten and Wesley Eudy, Ian Collins and step-granddaughters Meghan and Allison Fuller. Survivors also include numerous nieces and nephews. Services for Mr. Daniels were held in the chapel of Davie Funeral Service, 416 Valley Road, in Mocksville on Wednesday, January 14, at 11:00 a.m. with burial in Rose Cemetery. Jason Allen Oliver, 25, of Kennedy Road, Thomasville, died on Friday, January 9, at his home. He was born in Fort Hood, Texas, on April 10, 1983. He had been employed in the appliance rebuild business and was of the Baptist faith. He is survived by his father Paul Alan Oliver of Kernersville and his mother and stepfather, Sherry Lynn Tuttle Clontz and Jeffrey Alan Clontz of Thomasville; a brother, Levi Oliver of Thomasville, a sister, Chasity Clontz of Thomasville; a grandfather, Jimmy Starling of Mt. Airy; a grandmother, Wanda Oliver of Lexington, a step grandmother, Doris Bassett of Salisbury; a special niece, Autumn Phillips, several aunts and uncles and a longtime girlfriend, Amanda Story. He was preceded in death by a sister, Surenda Lynn Clontz and grandparents Harry Oliver, Bill Clontz, and Wilma and Lloyd Collins. The service to celebrate Jason’s life was held on Tuesday, January 13, at 2:00 p.m. at Freedom Baptist Church, 214 Hillcrest Court in Lexington, with Preacher Clyde Akers officiating.
