Posted by: Joan Shanks Sun January 13, 2013 | At one time, Everett High School lined up its students in alphabetical order, so it happened that my youngest brother, Kenneth Powers, stood behind Tony’s oldest daughter, Maryann Piccolo. That was the very beginning of a relationship that later joined my family to his.
I didn’t become acquainted with the Piccolos until several years later and at a very sad time. Tony’s beloved wife was gravely ill with cancer and died shortly after. Tony, in the depths of grief for his wife, bravely assumed full responsibility for continuing to raise the children. It wasn’t easy. He was an Italian immigrant and the children were the products of a liberal 70s America, inclined to rebel at his Old World parenting. But he brought them to maturity brilliantly. Just look at the kids today and their saintly devotion to their special Dad during the senior years of his life. Bless you, Tony, and Godspeed. |

The former things have passed away." |
