Margie was a very special person and a very special friend to me. I met Margie when I was 14 years old at the Parlin Library. I was a new and inexperienced library page, Margie, an older wiser page took me under her wing. This was the beginning of one of my most treasured friendships. For the next few years Margie and I spent countless hours at a myriad of jobs laughing and "working". Somehow those days never really felt like work...all I can remember is laughing and enjoying philosophical and imaginative conversations with Margie....and an occasional Boggle game! Anyone who really knew Margie loved her humor and unique perspective on things. Somehow she could find humor in situations and present it in her soft spoken way invoking an involuntary chuckle. We had nicknames for our most challenging customers and when we saw them coming, we would "buck up" to see who had to wait on them. I was always so happy when I was scheduled to work with Margie I new the labor would be evenly distributed and the hours would fly by full of fun! Margie was a year ahead of me in school...so off to college she went, but we were still very close. The next year I joined her at Northeastern, where when schedules allowed we commuted together in Margie's blue Pinto with the black swish on the side...you couldn't miss it! Even though we poked fun at the car Margie was very appreciative to have it and always spoke about how much she appreciated her dad for getting the car and managing it for her. Remember at this time Margie was 19 years old...always saying kind things about her entire family...this speaks volumes about her kind and considerate heart. Throughout college we still kept in touch, but we did begin to drift as our lives moved in different directions. Margie was my friend that I could call any time and we would travel back in time and be connected like we had just worked together yesterday! When working at the bakery we affectionately nicknamed the older woman that worked in the mornings "The Morning Ladies". We made a pact that someday we would reconnect and become those "Morning Ladies" a "pact" I held in a special place in my heart. It was a metaphor to me of our never ending friendship. I will miss Margie and keep her in my heart as an inspiration of humor, strength and pure goodness! |
| Posted by: Angela Colarusso Tue November 03, 2015 | I'm at a loss of words as I sit here trying to comprehend the news of your passing. In my mind I'm walking up to your house in Everett waiting for you so we can walk to school together; we were always late and getting in trouble but we would just laugh and chock it up to another day staying after school....We had so many great times growing up and working together at the bakery with Tree and Cynthia and lets not forget the nights we would pack ourselves in my little red Nova for our rides to Revere Beach. I can probably go on with so many great memories we all shared together (You, Tree, Cynthia and Janice) and those are the ones I will forever treasure in my heart. Margie you showed us all that no matter how hard things got you kept on fighting the fight with grace, dignity and a smile. I will miss our little talks on Facebook but I know that you are in now at peace in God's hands. I love you my friend and will always keep you in my heart.......

the funeral services . I lived across the street from the Gibbons family. I have many wonderful memories . Margie was a sweetheart , and the Gibbons family was my extended family back in the 60's . My Deepest Sympathies Dean Alepede and family |
