There is a profound sadness inside me. A sadness so deep and infinite
I'm afraid it wont ever go away. And when I look into the faces of our
family and friends I know you all feel this too. The sadness is a
constant, and the tears seem to come and go. It's an ache, a longing,
a pain so deep within my chest that it feels like my heart is just
floating, suspended in darkness.

I'm not sure how to make this pain go away, but there is a way to
lessen it; to fill the void my Papa's passing as left within us. And
it is to share our memories and stories of this remarkable man. We
need to laugh through the grief and remember that our love for this
man will keep him alive within our hearts forever.
Someone once said that "God made death so we'd know when to stop." As
I am sure you all know, my Papa, refused to stop. Whether he was
adding another addition onto his house, or helping his family members
and friends with their own home improvement projects, nothing could
keep his man from doing what he loved. He was a talented craftsman and
passionate about his work. This passion and talent was obvious in
everything he did, including the dollhouse he built for me. It is, to
this day, one of the most beautiful pieces of art I have ever seen and
it continues to amaze me every time I look at it.
My Papa was a hard-worker who put his family first, but was no
stranger to fun. He loved a good joke and prank. Growing up he never
seemed old like my friends grandparents, because he acted more like
one of the grandkids than a grandpa. I loved that about him. I loved
his energy and the way his face would get all red, his eyes squinty
and how his whole body would shake with laughter. I can still hear his
laugh, I'll miss that laugh.
I've read that death ends a life, not a relationship. He may no longer
be with us, but he will always be a husband, a father, a brother, a
friend and my Papa.
Love Amanda
