M. Gertrude MacDonald
M.Gertrude MacDonald of Melrose, and formerly of Everett, died Monday, January 30. Ms.MacDonald was the daughter of the late Samuel and Christine MacIntosh MacDonald and the sister of the late Dr.George MacDonald. Born in Sydney, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Gertrude was a graduate of Lesley College and Boston University School of Education. A former teacher in the Wayland and Everett Public Schools, she was a member of the New England and International Reading Associations, Pi Lambda Theta, the Massachusetts Society for the University Education of Women, Clan Donald of Scotland, Clan MacIntosh of North America, and Clan MacLeod of the United States. Baddeck, Nova Scotia, was her summer home. Gertrude will be fondly remembered by the members of the George Burrell family and the members of the Francis and Edward Reynolds families. Services will be conducted at the Salvatore Rocco and Sons Funeral Home, 331 Main Street, Everett at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 4, followed by burial at Puritan Lawn Cemetery in Peabody.
