John Stephen Belmonte, 72, of Brentwood, NH passed away peacefully on May 17, 2019 at Portsmouth Regional Hospital after fiercely and bravely battling a long illness.
A native of East Boston, John was a graduate of East Boston High School and earned a BA from Leslie College. He built a career at Polaroid where he worked as a production manager for thirty-five years and where he also formed incredible lifelong friendships.
John was born on January 12, 1947, the youngest son of the late Theresa (Sepe) and Louis Belmonte. He was married to his wife of 48 years, Rita (Aluia) Belmonte, who tirelessly and steadfastly cared for him, especially in the last year. They enjoyed many wonderful years raising their children in Andover, MA. He is survived by daughters, Lisa Belmonte of Newmarket, NH and Kristin Belmonte and her partner Sean Croteau of Brooklyn, NY. He was the adored Papa of Olivia (12) of Newmarket and August Croteau (4) of Brooklyn.
John is survived by his eldest brother, Louis R."Buddy" Belmonte and wife Janice Belmonte of Windham, NH, and sister Diana Reppucci and husband James Reppucci of Melrose, MA. He is also survived by five nephews, two nieces, and many dear cousins.
His sense of humor, love of good food, disarming smile, and inspiring resilience were John's trademark qualities. Always full of advice and opinions, John cherished time talking with neighbors, friends, and family.
To the exceptional nurses and doctors of Portsmouth Regional Hospital who went above and beyond for John and his family, our deepest gratitude and appreciation.
Memorial contributions may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
A private gathering is planned to honor John.

Our deepest sympathies for the family and friends of John Belmonte.
Many years ago I met John when he interviewed me for a position at Polaroid. Although I explained problems I had getting work in the past, his understanding and professional compassion opened the doors to my dream careers that spanned the next 30 years. I am deeply indebted to him.
Now he has left the bonds of this life to reside in the light of God's eternal love. Thank you so much, John. Rest in Peace.

Dear Rita and family, our deepest condolences to all of you. John's passing came somewhat as a shock to us. Rita and John were the first ones to invite us into their home after we had moved into their neighborhood and we have been friends ever since. We very much enjoyed the dinner discussions, fun and nice evenings we had together with him. He will be truly missed but we take comfort in the knowledge that he is in a better place now.
Love, Mary and Joe

To the Belmonte family, it is with my deepest sympathy, and prayful thought, that I've just learned of John's passing. Please know that John is in a better place, with no pain or suffering.I worked directly under John's leadership, for several years. He was a wonderful mentor, as well as a great supporter, for those of us that wanted too try something new. I remember the fun times, and the sometimes very crazy times, that we went through in trying to make our camera quotas, that we had when we were at POLAROID.
John my friend, may you rest in peace. GOD BLESS you and your family.
Sincerely,
Touie Jackson
