You know Ken, it seems like yesterday we were freshmen in a new school in Mr. Brown's homeroom. I remember we'd get there sometimes before Mr. Brown did, and as we'd wait there in the hall for him to arrive and unlock the door, we'd talk a little and then you'd share quite a few laughs and smiles with Mary-Ellen Palladino who was in the homeroom across the way. Of course she was better looking than me, so I don't blame you for talking to her more. Like everyone else, and for my own reasons, it just shocks me that not only is she gone, but you are as well. You were the first guy to ever refer to me as "Joe Murph." As you can imagine, Joe Murphy is kind of a common name, so when I first got myself onto the world of the internet and had to choose an e-mail address, I tried everything. JoeMurphy, JosephMurphy, JRMurphy, etc. They were all taken. I didn't want a number in there like JoeMurphy517, or JoeMurphy1965. So, I remembered you and tried JoeMurph, and it worked! Even some of the guys I work with call me JoeMurph, and every time I see that e-mail address or hear that nickname it always did, and always will bring you to mind. You even addressed me that way when you signed my yearbook. Speaking of which, when Marisa Burnett signed it, she made mention how she'd never forget that mock job interview we had to do in Ms. Murphy's class. We talked so long about what we'd do and because you were so quiet it all fell apart, much to the delight and hilarity of everyone in the room! All you had to do was let me in the room when I knocked and shake my hand. I turned to close the door, then turned back and extended my hand to shake yours, only to find you walking away from me. The room exploded in laughter and never stopped until we finished. I know we weren't especially close, but the few memories I have of you are ones I cherish. I can only imagine how those who were much closer to you must feel. Somehow I know you'll read this, just like I know you're probably up there joking and smiling at Mary-Ellen again. You always were a great guy. Thanks man, and God Bless all the loved ones you left behind.
