STOODLEY, Marian Josephine (Grilli) Of Somerville, formerly of Everett, passed away peacefully on September 5. She was the wife of the late Thomas J. Stoodley Jr. A long-time resident of Everett, Marian was born in East Boston on October 30, 1916, the beloved daughter of the late Joseph G. and Mary (Libretti) Grilli. She was raised in Everett and a graduate of Everett High School. During her career she worked at Rust Craft, the Boston Naval Shipyard as a Drafts Woman during WWII, and at Bell Telephone. She left the work force to raise her children, returing to work after the passing of her dearly loved husband in 1963. She was a retiree of State Street Bank. Marian was a devoted mother, cherishing grandmother, and proud great grandmother. She was renowned for her cooking and baking. She rolled her own pasta well into her 90's. She was an expert seamstress and knitter making clothes for her children and grandchildren. For 10 years she was an active volunteer at the Everett Villa Co-op & participated in the H.O.P.E. Study for research on Alzheimer's Disease at the BU School of Medicine. A deeply devout Catholic, Marian was a parishioner at the St. Joseph Church in Everett and a member of the Morning Glories. She is survived by her children, Thomas J. Stoodley III and his wife Diana of Lowell, Timothy J. Stoodley and his wife Margaret of Londonderry, NH, and M. Joy Stoodley of Saugus. She is survived by her loving grandchildren, Thomas J. Stoodley IV and his wife Sheila, Gregory Stoodley and his wife Jill, Dr. Catherine Stoodley and her husband Joseph DiNunzio, Lauren Stoodley and her fiance Rolando Alvarez, and Rebecca (Stoodley) and her husband Sean McCreery, and loving great grandchildren, Alexandra Stoodley, John and Catherine McCreery, Charles Stoodley,andElias DiNunzio, and many nieces and nephews. Marian was the sister of Angela M. Caruso of ME, and Joseph M. Grilli and his wife Jennie of NH, and the late Louisa Grilli. Donations in Marian's memory may be made to the H.O.P.E. Study, c/o Catherine Pfau, Boston University School of Medicine, 72 East Concord St., Boston 02118. Funeral from the Salvatore Rocco & Sons Funeral Home, 331 Main St., EVERETT, on Saturday, Sept. 8 at 9 a.m. Funeral Mass at St. Anthony Church, Everett, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends invited to visiting hours which are Friday only 4-7 p.m. Complimentary valet parking Friday at Main St. entrance. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
