DAVIS, Francis Girard Sr. 5/8/33-9/1/11. Frank passed away today, after a very long illness, while holding the hands of his beloved sisters Nancy and Irene. He was a quiet man who started life during the "Great Depression" and lived with 7 other brothers and sisters in Somerville. Without complaint for many many years he endured great pain caused by a serious back injury while voluntarily serving in the military for 4 years during the Korean War, and though a man of few words- none of hate or hurtful thoughts-he was most vociferous about the long and protracted VietNam War that he felt took so many lives, in more ways than one, of young men and women. He was independent and self- reliantinhis efforts to always provide for his family. He maintained and renovated numerous single family homes for them in Malden from the 50's through the 90's. If there is a heaven he is in it but he will be missed long and hard by his family. Frank is pre-deceased by his extremely loving wife of 48 years and wonderful mother of their 4 children Peggy (King) Davis of Somerville-Malden, his daughter Brenda Davis Malden-Everett and survived by an extended family, the closest of which are; his mother Eleanor Ash - Somerville - who will soon be 101 years old, his 2 brothers Paul,Buddy (deceased), sisters Nancy and husband Bob DiLoretto, Irene, Eleanor, Mary (deceased) and Joan. His immediatefamily includes daughter Donna Davis Malden-Saugus, son John Davis Malden-Florida, son Francis "Frank" Davis Jr. Malden-Revere, his wife Angela Davis and their son Francis "Frankie" III, daughter Helen Davis, and by his 2 loving grandchildren Jenna Davis Everett-Texas and John Hammersley Malden. In lieu of flowers, etc, please consider a donation of any size which will be appreciated and will help those young students of need and merit at B.C. High whose Jesuit Mission is to help mankind and the civility of man by instilling in them the ideal that one should be "a man for others" by directing ones efforts towards helping others. During this time of great sorrow, may it comfort you to know that others are deeply touched by your loss. I, too, know the pain of losing someone dear. Even though our hearts are broken, rest assured that our Grand Creator cares about you personally (1 Peter 5:7) and can help you through this difficult time. Revelation 21:4 speaks of a time soon when God will do away with death forever. There will be no more sorrow, heartache, or pain. May your happy memories and sure scriptural hope comfort your hearts during this painful time.
