Father Nicholas Caiazzo
Son of the late Louis and Lucia “Lucy” (Santilli) Caiazzo. Loving brother of Matilda Judge of Attleboro, Marie Williams and her husband Jerry of Billerica, Rita Constantine and her husband David of Palm Harbor, FL and Louis Caiazzo of Clearwater, FL. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Father Nick was an outstanding athlete who demonstrated exceptional skill on the baseball field at a young age. As a pitcher for the Everett High School baseball team he and his teammates went on to capture multiple championships for the city of Everett. Immediately following his graduation from Everett High School in 1959 he was signed by the Boston Red Sox as a pitcher at the age of eighteen. After his baseball career, Nick continued his education at Pueblo College in Colorado.
Later in life he found his calling to the priesthood. He entered the Holy Apostles Seminary in Cromwell, CT where he received his Masters of Theology. Father Nick was ordained a Catholic priest on May 30, 1992 in the Diocese of Norwich, CT. He offered his first Solemn Mass of Thanksgiving on May 31, 1992 at his childhood parish, St. Anthony’s Church in Everett, MA. As a priest he traveled to Medjugorje, Yugoslavia and Assisi, Italy. He also visited the birthplace of Padre Pio in Italy as well as Bethlehem, Jerusalem, and Nazareth to follow the path of Jesus. He was devoted to the Holy Scapula and the Blessed Mother.
Some of his lifelong joys were:
Movie buff
Music lover especially Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, and Elvis Presley
He had a beautiful singing voice and often wrote his own songs
Revere and Nahant Beach
Screen Actors Guild member - acting and modeling in New York and California
Our brother, Father Nick, was fun loving, very spiritual and taken from us too soon. He was very humbled to have been called to the priesthood and he will be missed by his brother priests, his family, and his friends. THOU ART A PRIEST FOREVER
A wake service will be held on Tuesday, August 26 in St. Anthony Church, 38 Oakes Street, Everett from 9:30 am to 11:00 am, immediately followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 am. Relatives and friends are invited. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.

To my dear cousins: I cannot begin to express the sadness I feel over the unexpected loss of your brother and my cousin Father Nick. As a child growing up he was one of my heroes. Older cousin, handsome, and unbelievable athlete. After high school he seemed to disappear into the world of sports and then Hollywood. He became somewhat of a mystery man to most of us. In the early nineties he reappeared as a Priest and I and blessed to say that I had a special connection with him for the last twenty years. He was a real and dedicated priest and in so many ways helped me to reconfirm my faith and keep me closer to God. I am sure he is with his mother, father, and Heavenly Father now and I will miss him deeply. With love, cousin Lou

I am sorry to hear of your loss. I have memories of Nicky, one especially,I was in the Grover Manor Hosp.,then one evening I heard "flip flops" coming down the hall, and here comes Nicky strutting down the hall with a bouquet of flowers! He looked like Rock Hudson, coming from Revere Beach the Van Dyke area where they hung. He always kept an eye on Rita and I!!! Know that I am thinking of you all and may peace be with you all. Memories keep the spirit alive. Love you all, Gail

Dear Family,
I am so sorry for your loss . I feel fortunate to have been able to see cousin Nick several times in the last couple of years. The latest was in March at the nursing home when he anointed my father as he had done many times before. He was noticeably not well but that didn't stop him from his natural calling. Once a priest, always a priest. I hope you all find some peace and solace in knowing your mother was there to receive him

I want to express my sympathy to all my cousins Tilda Marie Lou and Rita for the loss of your brother Nick. I became very close with Nick over the years. We enjoyed some great times together in New York and around the Boston area. Some great stories I have of him. I remember my father Rocco trying to get Nick out of bed to give me and Steve some baseball tips around the time he was with the Red Sox organization. What an accomplishment to have signed back in the day with them. Better yet was when Nick called me a couple of years ago to throw batting practice to him because he still thought he could hit one out of Glendale Park. I threw to Nick for almost two hours. Even thought he did not hit it out, he thought it was due to bad baseballs and older bats not his age. We laughed. When visiting his family after his acting days on General Hospital, he called me to get a bite to eat. After picking him up he asked me if my Dad was home and I said yes. He said he wanted to visit him. They were both actors and my father congratulated him on the General Hospital scenes and Nick told my father he respected him so much. I was so proud to know Nick confided in me and me with him. What a great guy. You all have to feel so prouf to have had him as a brother. I will certainly miss him greatly. Dave Cai

I am very sorry for your loss. I will miss Nick greatly and was looking forward for him to come over and visit me at my new condo. At least he is resting in peace not far from where I live.

After 60 years, our paths recently crossed again. Nick was the only kid who hit a homer off me when we played Little League and Pony League together. I always insisted it was a ground rule double. When we met again we had a great time remembering the good old days. After much pestering Nick finally agreed it might have been just a double, but I think he just said it to appease an old friend. Knowledge of his death came as a shock to me and my office staff. May God Bless his soul and may he rest in peace.
