Ronald Burl Sydney, Sr., age 74, of Pittsfield, IL passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2021 at his home. He was born on May 31, 1946 in Hannibal, MO to John Ralph and Susie McIntire Sydney. Ron married Janet Collins on May 28, 1966 in Hannibal, MO and she survives.

Ron was born and raised in Hannibal, MO and graduated from Quincy High School. He worked in the oil fields in Oklahoma for several years and later moved to Pike County. He began driving over the road for several years and at one time he team-trucked with his son, Ron Jr. When not working, he enjoyed fishing, mushrooming, camping and took great pride in canning produce from his garden. He loved the outdoors and traveling, especially ‘the 3 mile hole’ vacation with his family. Ron believed in teaching his children family values and made sure they knew right from wrong and to live life simply. He dearly loved his furry companions, Bo and Julian.

He is survived by his wife, Janet Sydney; sons, Ron Sydney, Jr. of Barry, IL, Don Sydney of Pittsfield, IL, John (Carrie) Sydney of Pittsfield, IL, Roy (Deana) Sydney of Pittsfield, IL and Darrell (Chris) Sydney of Pittsfield, IL; daughters, Audra (Daryl) DeCamp of Louisiana, MO, Angela (Donnie) Swartz of Pittsfield, IL, Melissa (Jamie) Henderson of Pleasant Hill, IL and Christina (Steve) Lemons of Nebo, IL; twenty-eight grandchildren; twenty-eight great grandchildren; and brother, Roger (Kathy) Sydney of Florida.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, John and Susie Sydney; grandson, Michael Lemons; three brothers; and four sisters.
