Trent R. Mays, 47, of Shelbyville died Friday, July 15, 2011, at Community East Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born June 21, 1964, in Shelbyville, he was the son of Russel L. and Vicki (Pettit) Mays.
Survivors include sisters, Stacy Knapp of Taylorsville and Teresa (Robert) A. Haus and Laura Mays, both of Shelbyville; brother, Troy Mays (companion, Neeta Johnson) of Shelbyville; companion, Millie Martin of Shelbyville; stepmother Sharon Mays of Shelbyville; step-brother, Brent Plunkett and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Mays had been employed as an assembler in manufacturing at Shares Inc.
Trent was a very compassionate person, always making sure everyone was having a good time. He was an inspiration to all that knew him.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service and Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Indianapolis, 911 E. 86th St., Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46240-1848.

Trent, your presence made everyone's day brighter. You were a character like no other. I know that Mike Forney has been waiting to see again. God will bless your soul.

I knew Trent a long time he always had a smile on his face no matter what he was facing with his own health always had a loving heart to Darrin and Abigail and everyone who knew him. He would give you something he had if he thought you needed it more then him. He was a very special person and ill miss him alot.
