David G. Noel, 57, of Shelbyville died Sunday, May 22, 2011, at his residence.

Born Oct. 13, 1953, in Shelbyville, he was the son of Jeppie J. Noel and Mary Ann (Pettit) Barton. He married Michele B. DeHo on Dec. 29, 1990, and she survives.

Other survivors include his mother of Shelbyville; daughters, Heather (A.J.) Phelps and Mary (Ryan) Holt, both of Shelbyville, and Jamie (Jerry) Walker; grandchildren, A.J. Phelps III, Dylan Phelps, Joshua David Phelps, Chandler Michael Gene Holt, Ty Walker and Luke Walker; sisters, Connie (Ken) Hilkene and Christina (Steve) Moore; brother, Victor (Suzie) Noel; stepsisters, Sherri Cunningham, Debra (Jimmy) Noel, Linda Atkins and Cathy Furchett; and stepbrother, Terry (Carol) Barton.

He was preceded in death by his father; his stepfather, Tom Barton; and a brother, Jeppie Noel.

Mr. Noel had been owner and operator of David Noel Painting since July of 1984, and unselfishly provided for his family through his God-given talent of being a master painter.

He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Seeing that this present life was not all, he surrendered his heart and soul to Jesus Christ through baptism.

Mr. Noel was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Vietnam, and was a member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Moose lodge.

David also left behind his beloved dog, Allie, and enjoyed classic cars.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service and Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Trinity United Methodist Church, 714 Fair Ave., with the Rev. Corliss Dees officiating.

Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, with graveside military rites conducted.

I remember David in elementary school at Pearson. I think he was the only one that could outrun Jann Moore. Sorry to hear of your passing, David, and it is good to know you have Jesus as your eternal friend. With sympathy to family and friends,
Jon Cousins
