John William Chapella, 73, of Shelbyville passed away at his home on Tuesday, April 19, 2011.
Born June 21, 1937, in Youngstown, Ohio, he was the son of John and Ann (Koniar) Chapella.
Survivors include sons, John (wife, Sara) Chapella and Joel Chapella, both of Shelbyville, and James (wife, Kerrian) Chapella of Whiteland; grandsons, Kyle Chapella, Cole Chapella, Andrew Chapella and Jazon Chapella; sister, Judith (husband, Chuck) Marinelli of Youngstown; brother, Warren Chapella of New Lime, Ohio; a nephew, Samuel Chapella; and a niece, Hannah Chapella.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Chapella had been an electronic engineer with Naval Avionics in Indianapolis, retiring in 2000 after 37 years.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service & Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St.
A celebration of life will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with Pastor Jim Cooper officiating.
