 Edith A. Bordenkecher, 81, of Franklin, IN, passed away, Monday, December 2, 2019 at Otterbein Franklin Senior Life Community.

  She was born January 2, 1938 in Indianapolis to Maurice J. Schmidt and Elizabeth M. (Hubert) Schmidt.

  On May 18, 1957, she married Norman Paul Bordenkecher, and he preceded her in death on March 4, 2014.

  Mrs. Bordenkecher is survived by her children, Diana (Ed) Beagle; Steve (Rosanne) Bordenkecher; Larry Bordenkecher; Linda (Brian) Carter; Dennis (Laura) Bordenkecher; Tony (Saundra) Bordenkecher and Greg (Courtney) Bordenkecher; 14 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; her sisters, Kathy Berger, and Vickie Beard.

  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brothers, John Schmidt, and Hubert Schmidt and her sister, Sister Elora Schmidt.

  Mrs. Bordenkecher was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.  She enjoyed reading, gardening, and playing word puzzles.  Raising 7 children kept her a busy woman, but her family was her greatest joy in life.

  Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Thursday, December 5, 2019 at Murphy-Parks Funeral Services, 703 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville, IN.  

  A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 125 E. Broadway, Shelbyville,  with Father Paul Landwerlin officiating.

  Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

  Funeral Directors, Greg Parks, Sheila Parks, and Stuart Parks are honored to serve Mrs. Bordenkecher’s family.
