  Eskel ‘Joe’ Southwood, Jr,   passed away Thursday, October 31, 2019 at his residence, surrounded by family.

  He was born June 2, 1942, in Wayne Co., KY, to Eskel Southwood Sr. and Bertha (Bell) Southwood.

  He married Jewell Wiggins in September of 1987, and she preceded him in death on August 14, 2018.

  Joe is survived by his daughter, Patti (David) Lyons; son, John Southwood; step-son, Bryan (Kim) Wiggins; step-daughter, Robin Wiggins; 2 brothers, 2 sisters, several nieces, nephews and grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and his beloved dogs, Peek-a-boo and Teenie.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, 4 sisters, and 3 brothers.

   Joe was a U.S. Army veteran and served during the Vietnam War.

   He was a carpet installer for several years.

  Joe was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing.  He also enjoyed antiquing, gardening, and spending time at the barn with his band of buddies.  He was an animal lover, who raised and trained horses, beagles and birddogs.

  Joe had a green thumb and got great joy from tending his garden and sharing his bounty with friends and family every summer.

  Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sunday, November 3, 2019 at Murphy-Parks Funeral Services, 703 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville, IN.

  Funeral services will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home with Reverend Brandon Sutton officiating.

  Funeral Directors, Greg Parks, Sheila Parks, and Stuart Parks are honored to serve the Southwood   family.

We will really miss Joe at our auctions, he and PC always had a smoke together before our sales. Sorry for the loss to your family.
