  James (Jim) S. Perry, 87, of Shelbyville, passed away on August 14, 2019, at his residence, after battling the effects of cancer for the last several years.

  Jim was born on April 17, 1932, in Shelbyville, to Curtis and Pearl (Dodd) Perry.

  Jim celebrated 32 years of marriage to Mary Jane (Prater) Perry.  Jim and Mary Jane spent several winters in Ft. Myers, FL.

   He worked at Ford Motor Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1991.  Jim enjoyed NASCAR, especially Mark Martin.  He also enjoyed working in his garden and all kinds of flowers.

  Jim was a member of the Moose, Sons of the American Legion, and was a 50 year member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

  Jim is survived by his wife, Mary Jane, 2 sons, Jim Perry (fiancée Marlene Muldoon); and Steve Perry; 2 daughters, Susan Ayers and Sandy Wells (David Wells); one step-son, Jerry Perrin (fiancée Tracy Grose); 7 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

  Jim was preceded in death by his parents, son, David Perry, 2 grandchildren, Chris and Annie Ayers, step-son, Daniel Perrin, and 3 brothers, and 2 sisters.

  Visitation will be held Monday, August 19th, 2019 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Murphy-Parks Funeral Services, 703 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville.

  Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

  Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Shelbyville.
