  William “Billy” Martin, 62, formerly of Shelbyville, passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at Hickory Creek in Connersville, IN.

  He was born October 25, 1956, in Shelbyville, to William E. Martin, Sr. and Shirley (Sharp) Martin.

  Billy is survived by his mother, his sisters, Debra Ramsey (Warren C.) of Connersville; Diane Ponder of Sarasota; Elizabeth “Libby” Root of Greensburg; brother, William Edward Martin, Jr. (Sheila) of Everton; sister, Angela Sylvester of Connersville; and 14 nieces and nephews.

  He was preceded in death by his father.

  Billy was a member of Shelby Shifters.  He looked at his nieces and nephews like they were his own children.

  Billy loved being outdoors and enjoyed camping and fishing.  He also enjoyed collecting cars, listening to music, and working with sound and lights for local bands.

   Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m, Friday, August 9, 2019 at Murphy-Parks Funeral Services, 703 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville, IN 46176.

  Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Reverend Phillip Mahoney officiating.

  Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.

  Memorial contributions may be made the Fayette County Cancer Society, P O Box 480, Connersville, IN 47331.

  Funeral Directors, Greg, Sheila, and Stuart Parks are honored to serve the Martin family.

My condolences to Libby and the family. I have fond memories of playing with the Martin kids way back when they lived in Waldron. Billy was a sweet kid. Glad I got to see him a few years ago. RIP Billy.

I was very sorry to hear about your loss.
It doesn’t seem that long ago that we were all young children playing together on Van Avenue.
