Amelia Umbarger, 78, of Shelbyville passed away Friday, July 19, 2019 at Ashford Place Health Campus, Shelbyville.

Born February 24, 1941 in Ripley County, she was the daughter of Dallas and Barbara (Adams) Toops.  She married Claude W. Umbarger on July 27, 1973, and he preceded her in death on July 2, 2011.

She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Nash; grandson, Dustin Nash; great-granddaughter, Mishayla Spiegel;  step-son, Claude Allen (Kay) Umbarger; step-daughters, Linda (Arthur) Stevens and Pamela (Don)  Kirby, both of Indianapolis; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, and friend, Terri Tague,

Mrs. Umbarger was the first woman truck driver in the union in Indiana.   She and her husband were owners of Willie Farkle’s.

She was very adventurous and loved the outdoors.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, August 17, 2019 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the VFW, 1622 East State Road 44, Shelbyville.

Teresa I’m sorry for your loss. She was Avery strong woman. She raised a strong woman as well.
