John Wayne Mohney, 94, of Shelbyville, passed away, Monday, April 1, 2019 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.

  He was born April 30, 1924, in Medford, Oklahoma to John C. and Floy (Ruth) Mohney.

  He married Marjorie (Lowen) Mohney on May 4, 1947 and she survives.

  John is also survived by his daughters, Connie (John) Phares and Kathy (William) Potter; daughter-in-law, Chris Mohney; grandchildren, Michelle (Gary) Nolley, Toby Conlon, Travis (Jennifer) Conlon, Michael (Mandi) Eaton, Benjamin (Michele) Mohney, Tasha (Neal) Danner Hevel, Tim (Amy) Mohney, Stacy Carlyle, Jennifer (Justin) Klopotek and Joseph Mohney, 17 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, 1 brother, and 3 sisters.

  He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Daniel Wayne Mohney; 2 brothers and 1 sister.

  John was a graduate of South Haven High School in Kansas.  He was a longtime member and Elder at First Christian Church of Shelbyville and a lifetime member of the American Legion.

  He enjoyed keeping in contact with other veterans that he served with while in the Navy during WWII.  He also enjoyed camping, fishing, and traveling.

  His most precious memories were made while spending time with his family and his wife of almost 72 years.

  Private services with military honors will be observed at a later date.
