 Larry Wayne Brokering, 75, of Shelbyville, passed away, Monday, December 31, 2018 at his home.

  He was born January 14, 1943 in Indianapolis to Bill and Mary E. (Sosbe) Brokering.

  Larry married the love of his life, Meridith K. Dismore on November 25, 1961, and she survives.

  He is also survived by his sister, Sue (Bill) Southworth; children, Marlou (Marc) Kirk;  Todd (Kim) Brokering; Rod (Tonya) Brokering; and Ryan (Angel) Brokering; grandchildren, Drew, Austin, Tyler, Audrey, Kay, Nick, Jackie, Baylee, Riley, Kenzi, Quinn, Rodney, Leah, and Lacey,; great-grandchildren, Avery, Hadley and Everly, and many nieces and nephews.

  He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Mollie Brokering, and his grandson, Jake.

  He graduated from Morristown High School in 1961. 

 Mr. Brokering was a member of the Elks Club, Bear Chase Golf Course and Knights of Columbus.  He was an inspector for the Shelby County Weights and Measures for 20 years after retiring as a foreman from Allison Transmission, Plant #5, where he worked for 30 years.

  He was an avid golfer and bowler.  He had a love for coaching youth sports programs, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends.

  A Celebration of Life will be held at River’s Edge Golf Course (formerly Bear Chase) 2660 N. Riley Highway, Shelbyville, IN. from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, January 6, 2019.

  Memorial contributions may be made to the Blue River Foundation - Jacob T. Brokering Scholarship Fund, 54 West Broadway Street, Suite #1, Shelbyville, IN 46176.

  Funeral Directors, Greg, Sheila, and Stuart Parks are honored to serve the Brokering family.

We are so very sorry to hear of Uncle Larry's passing. We really enjoyed the time we got to spend with him this past summer. He will be missed by our whole family. We love you all.
