Elsie Mae Hines, 99, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 17, 2018.  She was born on July 25, 1919 in Flat Rock, Indiana.

Elsie was the daughter of Orville Sampson and Monta Mae (Cooper) Sampson, also of Flat Rock.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 64 years, Alexander F. ‘Slim’ Hines, four siblings, Otha E. Bishop, O. Carl Sampson, H. Loren Sampson, and Effie Faye Wasson.

Elsie is survived by her two children, Linda L. Jones of Shelbyville, Indiana, and William A. Hines (Margaret) of Lancaster, Ohio; her sister-in-law, Freeda L. Sampson, her five grandchildren, Jeffery W. Jones (Tricia); Sherrie L. Centers (Kenny); Shelly L. Benefiel (Jason); Christina M. Dueno (Otto); and Scott A. Hines (Janet).  She is also survived by twelve great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Elsie was a devoted wife, and secretary-treasurer of Diamond Tool Company, which was a business in Flat Rock, run by her husband and herself for many years.

She was a lifelong devout member of the Flat Rock Christian Church and was the oldest member.

The family of Elsie Hines would like to thank the MHP Medical Center and the Heritage House Nursing Home, both of Shelbyville, for their excellent and special care they provided.

Sorry to hear of Aunt Elsie's passing, but know she's by Uncle Zander's side once again. I have fond memories of my visits at their home with my grandparents when I was very young. Bill and Linda were fortunate to be raised by two such fine Christian people. I know they did a great job in raising you both. I'm sorry I won't be able to attend the funeral...Trudy's sick and I don't feel that I can leave her, but you will all be in our thoughts and prayers in the coming days.

I just discovered here that we lost Elsie... I am so saddened. She hadn't been to the family reunion for some time. She was a wonderful lady and I am glad to have known her. She was very helpful with Cooper family research. Condolences to the family from all the Cooper Cousins. I hope you all keep in touch.
