Robert Davidson Harms, 92, of Pleasant View died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2011, at his home.

He was born Jan. 25, 1919, in Shelbyville to Oscar and Farnnis (Davidson) Harms. He married Arianna Eckstein on Oct. 18, 1942, and she survives.

Other survivors include a son, Mike (wife, Mary) Harms of Shelbyville; two daughters, Sandy (husband, Ed) Roehling of Unionville and Ginny (husband, Doug) Powers of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Kris Roehling, Melissa (husband, Rob) McGrath, Jerry Roehling, Dennis Roehling, Amber (husband, Adam) Stafford, Scott Harms, Heather (husband, James) Williams, Tony (wife, Brittany) Powers, Misti Powers, Jason Harms, Jodi (husband, Pat) Smiar and Tanji (husband, Abe) Skinner; great-grandchildren, Aidan Williams, Jesi Williams, Tony Powers Jr., Kamron Tracy, Blayne Hedges, Anthony Stafford, Ariana Stafford, Jenna Roehling, Lauren Roehling, Seth Roehling, Jacob Roehling, Austin McGrath, Alex McGrath, Karen Smiar, Tantania Skinner and Cordell Skinner; and a companion, dog Tiger.He was preceded in death by two sons, Jay Harms and Gary Harms; and a sister, Julia Kaufman.

Mr. Harms was retired from Western Electric in Indianapolis.

He served in the U.S. Army.

He was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church.

He enjoyed woodworking.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011, at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service and Crematory, 703 S. Harrison St. in Shelbyville.Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Tom Strong officiating.

Burial will be in London Cemetery in Shelby County. Local veterans’ organizations will provide graveside military rites.
