Velma Marthina Wicker Bogeman, 90, passed away with Cindy (niece) and Gary (nephew) by her side in Clayton, Georgia on August 20, 2018.

She was born to Oral Ernest Wicker and Mary Melinda Wooldridge, in Shelbyville, IN.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, James William Bogeman, brother Olan Oral Wicker, sisters Erma Lee (Wicker) Deggeller, Doris Mae (Wicker) Hauk.

Surviving her are two sisters Evelyn (Wicker) Pitts, Indiana and Sueann Wonn, Arkansas.  Several nieces and nephews Cindy, Gary of Georgia, Steve, Joann of North Carolina, Mary of South Carolina, Buddy of California, Terry, Don, Cathy, Greg, Kelly, Jeff of Florida, Dean, Teresa, Kathy, Scott, Debbie, Tim of Indiana, as well as several other nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

After Aunt Velma married, Jim Bogeman in 1948, she worked at Cinch Manufacturing in Shelbyville, Indiana and later started working at Farmers National Bank as Branch Manager, where she retired.  Aunt Velma and Uncle Jim enjoyed square dancing, going to the Indianapolis 500, gardening.  She also loved being on the bowling league and was very active at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella and selling Avon.  Aunt Velma loved to make noodles, angel food cake and peanut brittle.  She loved spending time with her family.  Gary and I were very blessed that she spent the last years with us in Georgia.

She loved telling stories of growing up with her brothers and sisters.

Aunt Velma was loved by everyone and will be surly missed by all.  “We Love You”

The family will receive friends from 9:30 am to 10:30 am, Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville.  A funeral service will follow at the chapel of Murphy-Parks Funeral Service with Father Mike Keucher officiating.

Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Shelbyville.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in memory of Velma Bogeman to Pruitt Health Hospice, c/o Pruitt Cares Foundation, 700 South Enota Drive North East, Gainesville, Georgia 30506.

Funeral Directors Greg, Sheila and Stuart Parks are honored to conduct the services for Velma.

My favorite memory of Aunt Velma is helping her make those great homemade noodles!! They had to be cut just perfectly, she was a special aunt!
