Jack K. Fix, 88, of Shelbyville, passed away Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Franciscan Health in Indianapolis.
He was born December 9, 1929 in Shelby County to Lowell C. and Gertrude V. (Young) Fix. He married Geraldine Joan Fix on October 28, 1951 and she preceded him in death on June 17, 2018.
He is survived by his daughter, Debra A. (Terry) Johnson of Columbus; son, Bradley E. (Connie) Fix of Shelbyville; daughter, Lucinda J. (Mark) Marietta of Rockville; 9 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, infant brother, Darrell E. Fix and daughter-in-law, Julie Fix.
Jack was a construction worker and farmer before beginning his civil service career at Fort Benjamin Harrison Finance Center. Jack and Joan both retired from the finance center on December 30, 1989.
He was a veteran of the Indiana National Guard for 33 years, retiring on December 9, 1989.
Jack enjoyed gardening, traveling, playing golf and euchre. He was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan. He loved to bowl and was a member of the Eagles Bowling team for many years. When he renewed his dues in June of 2018, he was the oldest living member of the Shelbyville Eagles.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 23, 2018 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville, IN.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 24, 2018 at the funeral home with Father Paul Landwerlen officiating.
Following the funeral burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery with military rites conducted by local veteran’s organizations.
