Music by The Piano Brothers

David William Scott, 57, of Shelbyville, passed away on Thursday, June 14, 2018.

David was born on August 13, 1960 to John William “Bill” Scott and Mary Belle (Conover) Scott of Shelbyville. David worked as a machinist at Custom  Machining for many years, but he was also a visionary artist and a skilled craftsman. David made hundreds of sculptures, drawings, paintings, and contraptions out of paper, glass, metal, wood, and whatever else he could find. He could turn anything into something beautiful.

David loved horror movies, thunderstorms, and rock and swing music. But his truest joy was fatherhood.  He married Annie Petty in 1986 and they had two children. Though they later divorced, they remained close throughout his life.  David and Annie’s daughters, Emily Ann Elizabeth Scott and Kylee Jae Nichole Scott, were the light and love of his life. And he made sure they knew that every single day.

David was a member of the First Christian Church. He was preceded in death by his father Bill, who would be thrilled to be reunited with his son.  He is survived by his daughters Emily and Kylee, his mother Mary Belle, his siblings Randy Scott and Debbie Coon, their spouses Beckie Scott and Chuck Coon, Annie (Petty) Williams, and countless other family members and friends who love him so much.

As brave and strong and creative and intelligent and resilient as David was, he would say that his greatest legacy is his daughters, Kylee and Emily, who love him more than anything, and always have, and always will…to infinity and beyond.

As per David’s wishes, there will be no service or funeral, but prayers are always welcome.

Funeral Directors Greg, Sheila and Stuart Parks are honored to serve the Scott family.

Memorial contributions may be made in David’s honor to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana,  2626 E. 17th Street, Columbus, IN 47201
