Naomi Marie Woods, 86, of Shelbyville, passed away Monday, May 21, 2018 at Morristown Manor.
She had been a resident of Shelby County since 1959.
Born October 12, 1931 in Decatur County, she was the daughter of Bernard E. and Bertha M. (Roszell) Redelman.
Naomi is survived by her two sons, Stephen E. (Stephanie) Woods of Shelbyville and John R. (Susan) Woods of Greenfield and, four daughters, Martha A. (Robert) Nuhn of Ohio, Mary J. Glass of Indianapolis and Ruth H. Woods of Indianapolis, and Jeanne M. (Esau) Borja, of Ohio.
Other survivors are her grandchildren, Chris, Angela, Chris, Kikki, Camille, Conner, Courtney, Ben, Madelyn and Megan, 13 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and infant son, Paul, and 2 brothers, Elmo B. Redelman and Donald L. Redelman.
Naomi was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she worked at the Rectory in the mid 1980’s -1990’s, St. Anne’s Alter Society, the St. Joseph prayer line, and the Oldenburg Academy Alumnae.
She attended St. Mary’s Catholic School in Greensburg and the Immaculate Conception Academy, now the Oldenburg Academy, and Marian College.
She provided child care for many families in Shelbyville and was a child care provider at
The C-H-I-L-D Center of Shelbyville.
Naomi was a hospital volunteer at MHP for 15 years and accrued 6,940 hours.
Mom’s passion was taking care of infants and children, and sending cards.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville, with the Rosary to be recited at 3:30 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 30th at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 125 E. Broadway, Shelbyville with Father Mike Keucher officiating.
Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Greensburg, IN.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Associates of The Sisters of St. Francis of Oldenburg, IN or St. Joseph Catholic Church, in care of the funeral home.
