Edna Mae (Cox) Tucker, 81, of Shelbyville passed away in the early hours of Sunday, May 20th, 2018 at her home. She was born in Clementsville, Kentucky on June 10, 1936 to parents William and Ada (Clements) Cox. She had six siblings, four of whom preceded her in death, Lilburn T. Cox, Anna Lee (Cox) Bowman, Leland K. Cox, and Velma D. (Cox) Stevens. Her older sister, Beulah (Cox) Preston and younger sister, Cenda (Cox) Evans survive.
Edna moved to Shelby County, Indiana as a young child and lived near Fairland. Edna loved school. She attended Hendricks Township grade school and graduated from Boggstown High School in 1955. While in school, she met her childhood sweetheart, Lee Tucker, and they were married on May 14, 1955. Edna and Lee had five children, four of whom survive. They are Tony L. Tucker (wife, Sue), Terri L. (Tucker) Cooper (husband, Jon), Tammi L. (Tucker) Leggett, and Troy L. Tucker. Her son Tommy L. Tucker preceded her in death in 1987. Her husband of almost 60 years, Lee Tucker, also preceded her in death on January 1, 2015. Edna is also survived by her five grandchildren, Angie Cooper, Jennifer Ramsey, Tonya Shook, Todd Cudworth, and Christopher Leggett, as well as numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Edna loved the Lord and her family dearly. She was a member of Vine Street Methodist Church for many years as well as the First Church of the Nazarene. Prior to her illness, she attended Grace Wesleyan Church in Shelbyville. Her smile brightened anyone’s day and will be dearly missed. She will be remembered for many things, among them her delicious meals, her loving and caring nature, and her kindness towards all that she met. She is now home with her Lord and Savior in Heaven.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 24, 2018 from 4 pm to 8 pm at Murphy-Parks Funeral Services, 703 S. Harrison Street, Shelbyville, IN.
Funeral services will be Friday, May 25th at 11 am at the funeral home with Reverend Harvey Weaver officiating.
Burial will be in Miller Cemetery.
