It is with great sadness that the family of Ann Lay announce her passing.  Ann Lynn (Sanders) Lay, age 69, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 15, Ann lost her courageous battle with Breast Cancer.  She was born March 16, 1949 in Shelbyville, IN to Jack W. and Florine (Weintraut) Sanders. She is survived by her sister, Jan (Sanders) Caton of Shelbyville, IN.

Ann married Paul E. Lay on December 24, 1967.  Together they had two children, daughter Lori (Lay) Law, son-in-law David Law, grandson Nick Law, granddaughter Abby Law of Indianapolis, IN and son Andy, daughter- in-law Diana (White) Lay, grandson Jackson, twin granddaughters Carli and Allison of Columbus, IN.

She is preceded in death by her parents and husband. 

She graduated from Shelbyville High School.  Ann worked as an interior design consultant for Sanders Interiors Inc., and as a teacher’s aide for Shelbyville Central Schools.  Ann, known as Gran, by her five grandchildren, enjoyed family time, reading, and was an exceptional cook. 

Visitation is scheduled for Saturday May 19 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, at Murphy Parks Funeral Home,703 S. Harrison St.,  Shelbyville, IN.   Burial will be celebrated immediately following at Forest Hill Cemetery.  

Funeral directors Greg, Sheila and Stuart Parks are honored to serve the Lay family.

So very sorry to hear this. Ann was a wonderful lady and I have been lucky enough to have worked with her, and Lori, many years ago. In more recent years, I was able to meet Andy through my work. All truly good people. I will remember Ann fondly.
