Robert Allen "Bob" Markley, 85, of Shelbyville, passed away, Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at MHP Medical Center.

  He was born January 11, 1933 in Shelbyville to Maurice Allen Markley and Kathryn (Emerick) Markley Burton.  He married Monna Sue (Christian) Markley on March 3, 1956 at Flat Rock Christian Church.  They were married for 62 years.

   Other survivors include his sons, Mark (wife, Margie) Markley, David (wife, Sue) Markley, all of Shelbyville, and Mike (wife, Stacey) Markley of San Antonio; grandchildren, Andrew, Courtney, Brandon, Desirae, Christopher, Joshua, Amanda and Cindy; great-grandchildren, Brayden, Madelyn, Silas, Rhett, Christian, Calab, Blaze, Addy, Phoenix, A.J., Zula and Geo; great-great-grandchild, Logan.    

  He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Larry Sawyer Markley; grandson, Kyle Markley; sister, Karen Ivie; and brother, Bill Markley.

  Mr. Markley was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

  He worked at Cummins for 38 years and as a driver for Heritage Automotive  until 2 months ago.

  Mr. Markley was a member of Little Blue River Baptist Church; the American Legion Post 70; and V.F.W.  60.  Bowling was his favorite leisure activity which he was a member of the 300 club.   He always took great pride in his gardening.

  Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville.   

  Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. with Reverend Ken Morgan officiating.

  Burial will be in Miller Cemetery with military rites conducted by local veteran’s organizations.

  Funeral Directors Greg, Sheila, and Stuart Parks are honored to serve the Markley family.
