Fred W. Saunders, 69, of Shelbyville, passed away Thursday, March 1, 2018 at his home with family by his side.

  He was born October 2, 1948 in Shelbyville.  He was the son of Arthur and Lucy (Bassett) Saunders.

  Fred married Marilyn (Jackson) Saunders on September 16, 1971, and she survives.

  Other survivors include his daughters, Wendi Farlow, Melissa Edwards, both of Shelbyville; brother, Steve Tevis of Brownsburg; sisters, Janet Miller and Jo Ann Hazelbaker, both of Columbus; 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

  He was preceded in death by his parents; daughters, Jaime Saunders and Peggy Jo Saunders; and brother, Eddie Tevis.

  Fred was a veteran of the U.S. Airforce.  He graduated from Waldron High School in 1968.

  He was employed at O’Neal Steel for 34 years, retiring on March 9, 2009.

  He enjoyed fishing and playing golf.  His greatest joy was spending time with his family.

  Visitation will be Monday, March 5, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Murphy-Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison St., Shelbyville 

  Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home with Reverend Mike Bartlett officiating.

  Burial will be at Bennett Cemetery.

    Funeral Directors Greg, Sheila, and Stuart Parks are honored to serve the Saunders family.

So sorry to hear about Fred. He will be missed by all of us who knew him. I remember the good times we had at Ottis and Janet's when they had the kids birthday parties. Those were precious times. God Bless you all.

So sorry to hear about Freddie. I know that John is greeting him in heaven and sharing Big Bass stories. Freddie and I always had a joke between us about "White Teeth". That will always stay between us! I'll keep you and your family in my prayers during this difficult time. Debbie
